Employees are Honored at Awards Ceremony

PacRim Marketing Group and PRTech  team members attended a celebration honoring top employers in the state on March 27 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.  The companies were named one of Hawaii Business magazine's 2015 “Best Places to Work.”

“Among all accolades, this is truly special being that it was a vote won by the opinions of our own staff,” said Dave Erdman, founder, president and chief executive officer.

Passion, innovation, long-term client relationships, and sharing the spirit of ALOHA are high on the list of reasons employees enjoy being part of the PacRim Marketing Group and PRTech teams.

“At PacRim Marketing Group and PRTech, ‘You Matter’ is our philosophy when it comes to our teams, and we are constantly seeking ways to upgrade their work experience,” said Erdman.  “Our tech savvy, multicultural marketing professionals are the reason we have been able to help our clients and partners succeed in increasing share and spend of the Asian International Traveler market.”

Team members say they are motivated by:

  • A passion for cross cultural communications and sharing Hawaii as a destination
  • Working as a team to innovate and develop creative solutions
  • Being trusted advisors to clients and partners and enjoying their successes
  • Sharing the spirit of ALOHA at work and abroad

“We look for people with unique skill sets who value these motivators when we hire ‘best fit’ employees,” said Jennifer Erwin, general manager at PacRim and PRTech.  “We offer competitive salaries and benefits packages, work visa assistance, and flexible work arrangements, including relocating to or from our Tokyo office.”

“Also important to good morale, we engage team members with meaningful and impactful work utilizing cross cultural skills,” said Erwin.  “Many of our employees are natives of Japan, China, and Korea.  We value their market expertise and understanding of Asian cultural trends and languages, which helps our clients.”

To educate each other about cultures and make employees feel welcome, PacRim and PRTech celebrate diversity.  For Lunar New Year, they decorate the office, invite lion dancers, and feast on Chinese food.  They present information about top trends in Asian and share ethnic food and customs at team meetings.

To further support the creative process and encourage innovation and teamwork, PacRim Marketing Group and PRTech moved their U.S. headquarters to Ala Moana Pacific Center—Suite 888—in 2013.  The new space—closer to clients and partners in Waikiki, the Ala Moana Corridor, Downtown Honolulu, and the growing Kakaako area—also fits with PacRim and PRTech’s corporate growth plans and provides spaces for collaboration amongst team members, clients, and partners.

Being part of a growing company has its advantages.  “We are able to invest more in training and career advancement and will continue to mentor future leaders in marketing, travel, and retail industries,” said Erwin.  “This year, we will expand our kitchen and dining facilities to accommodate more team members and to encourage bonding and sharing ideas.”

To reinforce team communications and commitment to excellence, the teams at PacRim Marketing Group and PRTech adopted the spirit of ALOHA as their core value.

“It makes sense that we embrace the Hawaiian culture and location at the ‘Gateway to the Pacific’ from which we were founded,” said Erdman.  “Aloha transcends cultural boundaries and helps our multicultural teams communicate more effectively with each other and with clients and partners here, in Asia, and in North America.  At meetings, we talk about interacting with each other and with clients and partners with the spirit and values of aloha.

“Being named one of the ‘Best Places to Work’ is meaningful and serves as a benchmark for how we can improve employee programs and work environment,” Erdman said. “If they enjoy their work and being part of a team, they create best solutions to drive business, helping our clients thrive.  In turn, we thrive.”
