The web site was designed to provide Japanese-speaking visitors with the ability to learn about Kauai. In addition to an overview of the island and its history, the site features links to many of the KVB's members as well.

KAUAI VISITORS BUREAU LAUNCHES ITS OFFICIAL JAPANESE WEBSITE
NEW SITE FEATURED BY YAHOO! JAPAN
Kauai, the northwesternmost island of Hawaii, is nicknamed the Garden Island due to its serenity and abundant nature. In order to better familiarize Japanese with this intriguing island, Kauai Visitors Bureau launched its official Japanese website (jp.kauaidiscovery.com) on January 1, 2004 Japan Time (December 31, 2004 HawaiiTime). Just after the site went live, it was featured on Yahoo! Japan as one of the new websites in January 2004. This brought immediate traffic to the Kauai Visitors Bureau website.

This new website features a 3-day itinerary that enables travelers to thoroughly enjoy Kauai, as well as area guides divided into five sections of the island. It includes links to transportations, accommodations, restaurants, shopping centers, car rentals as well as tips on wedding and honeymoon plans and activities. Also, there is an online inquiry form available for people in the travel industry to ask questions as a part of service to meet the needs of Kauai visitors.

Prior to this launch, an online survey was conducted over a span of one week as well as interviews with selected people from the travel industry and Hawaii repeaters, resulting in a number of comments, requests or questions on Kauai. Based on this data, the Japanese site was specifically designed to provide the kind of information that Japanese travelers are truly searching for.

Kauai Visitors Bureau is a private, non-profit organization charged with marketing the island of Kauai in coordination with the County of Kauai and the State of Hawaii.
