PacRim Marketing Group and PRTech Offer Time and Donations to Help Japan

HONOLULU, HAWAII (April 8, 2011) – PacRim Marketing Group (PRMG) and PRTech staff are volunteering time, talent, and money to help with relief efforts in Japan in the aftermath of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami.
Supporting Hawaii statewide efforts, PRMG and PRTech raised more than $5,000 with a program that matched every monetary donation made by staff, family, and friends to help earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan. Half of the funds and proceeds were donated to the relief effort, “Aloha for Japan,” www.alohaforjapan.com, through The Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce and The Japan-American Society of Hawaii (JASH).
The other half was donated to Tohoku University Hospital in Sendai—nearest to the epicenter of the earthquake— to assist with the direct and immediate care of the Sendai people as part of the “With Aloha” www.withaloha.org fundraiser program. Since the disaster hit, Tohoku University Hospital has been providing food, medicine and comfort items to people in need from the surrounding areas.
Following the disaster, the PRTech team volunteered its skills by providing IT assistance to the Honolulu Japanese Chamber of Commerce, setting up and installing the online system used to track donations collected for “Aloha for Japan.”
PRTech also has volunteered its staff time to develop the www.kokuaforjapan.jp website, the Japanese version of the ww.kokuaforjapan.com website. The site has an embedded player to watch audio and video streams for the Japan benefit concert and telethon that will be simulcast live to the Japanese market on April 10, 3 to 5 p.m. HST (April 11, ah 1.m. to 12 p.m. JST). The simulcast will be of the final two hours of the 5 hour event to be held at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
As well as supporting state sanctioned business and community relief efforts, PRMG’s website, www.hawaii-arukikata.com , the largest commercial website about Hawaii in the Japanese language, is host to Twitter feeds, articles, interactive discussions, and interviews from Japanese tourists and residents about their view of the tragedy and what is being done to help. “We are talking to our readers on Twitter and providing links to pages focusing on relief efforts,” said Akiko Mori, Chief Editor and Content Manager of Hawaii Arukikata. “Businesses as well as individuals are reaching out to those in need via this website.”
“Our staff and associates have had long lasting business connections and personal relationships in Japan and wanted to do whatever they could to help,” said Dave Erdman, president and CEO of PRMG and PRTech. “They have been selfless in volunteering their time and talent to assist with statewide coordinated efforts to help the people in Japan. They have also been very generous in their monetary donations to support these important relief efforts."
